Arlington Welcomes New CEB Headquarters

  • New global HQ in Rosslyn's Central Place
  • Will bring 800 jobs and expand company's global presence

ARLINGTON, Va. – CEB, a leading member-based advisory company, has announced plans to lease 350,000 square feet in the JBG Companies' new Central Place development in Rosslyn as its new global headquarters. The building, which will be known as “CEB Tower,” is expected to bring as many as 800 new jobs to the region.

“CEB is exactly the type of business Arlington needs as we move forward as a leader in the innovation economy,” said Arlington County Board Chair Jay Fisette. “Today's announcement is a shining example of how the new initiatives we've implemented this year are increasing Arlington's economic competitiveness and ensuring our place as a leading community for technology businesses of the future.”

This year, Arlington has implemented numerous initiatives and revised policies to make the County the most attractive and desirable business location in the region. New and revised programs like Arlington's Technology Zone incentives, the implementation of the newest phase of ConnectArlington (Arlington's strategic broadband fiber network), revisions to sign ordinances in targeted areas of the county and other efforts are setting Arlington apart from other regions in terms of providing companies like CEB with the resources and tools they need to grow their businesses for the future. In addition to CEB's announcement, businesses like the Crystal Tech Fund and TechShop have also opened locations in Arlington this year, showcasing Arlington's resilience to change and forward-thinking as an innovative economy.

“Arlington is diligently working with our businesses to provide them with an ideal environment in which to expand and succeed in today's marketplace, and today's CEB announcement is a prime example,” said Arlington County Manager Barbara Donnellan. “Arlington is committed to offering new initiatives and resources that our businesses desire, and we are making the improvements that we need to do to ensure our economic competitiveness today and into the future.”

“This Agreement would not have been possible without the exceptional partnership of the Commonwealth and Arlington County,” said CEB Chairman and CEO Tom Monahan. “The Governor's office and our local government representatives clearly demonstrated why Virginia is a great state for business. Under their leadership, we are confident in Arlington's future as a business hub and thrilled to be a landmark business in—and significant economic contributor to—the Rosslyn community. While it's too early to size precisely the economic impact for 2018 and beyond, their partnership and leadership notably support our strategy for continued growth and margin expansion.”

Arlington County officials worked in conjunction with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Governor's office to secure a $4.5 million Governor's Opportunity Fund grant for the project, which was matched by the County through infrastructure improvements. Another $5 million in funds was provided by the Virginia Economic Development Incentive Grant.

Slightly smaller than 26 square miles, it is the geographically smallest self-governing county in the United States, and one of only a handful with the prized Aaa/AAA/AAA bond rating. Arlington maintains a rich variety of stable neighborhoods and quality schools, and has received numerous awards for Smart Growth and transit-oriented development. Home to some of the most influential organizations in the world — including the Pentagon — Arlington stands out as one of America's preeminent places to live, visit and do business.
