ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Commission on the Status of Women is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for the 2013 Mary Marshall Memorial Scholarships.
Each year, the Arlington County Board awards Mary Marshall Memorial Scholarships to County residents who are: 1) graduates of an Arlington high school; 2) planning on attending Northern Virginia Community College; and 3) interested in pursuing careers in public service.
The scholarships range from $1,500 to $2,000. They may be used during the 2013 fall and 2014 spring semesters to cover the costs of tuition, books, and school supplies.
The application deadline for the 2013 Mary Marshall Memorial Scholarships is May 1, 2011. The Scholarship application form and application instructions are available on the Arlington County website, keyword search “Mary Marshall Memorial Scholarship.”
Recipients may re-apply annually and be awarded a maximum of three scholarships, as long as they remain in good academic standing.
The awards will be presented to scholarship recipients by the Arlington County Board in early summer. Winners will be notified prior to the award presentation.
The scholarships were established in 1994 to honor Mary Marshall's service to Arlington by supporting county residents with strong commitments to public service to further their education and career goals. Arlington County's Commission on the Status of Women is charged with administering the program and selecting scholarship recipients on behalf of the County Board.
