The Arlington County Board appointed Stephen A. MacIsaac the County Attorney in 2000; he has served more than 25 years in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a local government attorney.
Prior to joining Arlington, Mr. MacIsaac served 18 years in the Office of County Attorney in Prince William County and was named Deputy County Attorney in 1989.
He graduated with honors from Tufts University and received a J.D. from the Washington College of Law at American University. Mr. MacIsaac is an active member of the Virginia Local Government Attorneys Association. He also serves on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) Lawyers Committee, where is works on legal issues confronting the region, including disaster response, emergency planning and mutual aid.
In addition to his regular duties as County Attorney, Mr. MacIsaac also serves as General Counsel to the Virginia Railway Express.
