Lynne Porfiri, an attorney, has been with the County since 2008, working in the Real Estate Bureau of the Department of Environmental Services. While in the Real Estate Bureau, she worked on the acquisition and disposition of a variety of County real estate interests. Most notably she was part of the team that acquired the building which houses the County’s new homeless services center. Ms. Porfiri also served as Acting Assistant Director in the Department of Environmental Services.
Before joining County government, Ms. Porfiri managed a title insurance agency in Arlington. Earlier in her career, Ms. Porfiri was a partner in two law firms in Richmond, Virginia, and specialized in transactional work at both. In 1990, Governor L. Douglas Wilder appointed Ms. Porfiri to his policy staff, where her areas of responsibility included public safety and administration. After leaving the Wilder administration, Ms. Porfiri was appointed to the Governor’s Commission to Study the Commonwealth’s Sentencing and Parole Policies and the Need to Establish “Truth-in-Sentencing,” and the Commonwealth of Virginia Child Day-Care Council (Regulatory Board).
Ms. Porfiri holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Richmond. She also studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, France and Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, England.
As a graduate of the Virginia Executive Institute, Ms. Porfiri looks forward to being a member of the 2016 Leadership Arlington class. She lives in the south Arlington neighborhood of Arlington Ridge.
