The Arlington County Board today welcomed the General Assembly’s passage of a budget that includes Medicaid expansion, and thanked the Arlington legislative delegation and Governor Ralph Northam for leading on the issue.
“We applaud the General Assembly for taking this critical step,” Cristol said. “We are especially thrilled that some 7,000 Arlingtonians now will have healthcare coverage — this legislative action will improve outcomes for their health and welfare, strengthen our workforce, and help our community and the Commonwealth.”
The County’s legislative delegation fought hard to increase healthcare coverage for Arlingtonians who need it, Cristol said. “For years, the County and our delegation have made Medicaid expansion a priority. It is gratifying to see their hard work and persistence yielding such a positive result.”
The state budget, she noted, also provides additional funding for public safety and for behavioral health services, and increases state support for Constitutional offices such as the Commonwealth Attorney, Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, Sheriff, Circuit Court and Registrar of Voters.
