- Foundation for Arlington’s digital tourism marketing worldwide
- Developed with latest destination-marketing industry best practices
- Easily viewed and used on all mobile and desktop devices
The Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (ACVS) launched its new StayArlington website this week. The next-generation site is the foundation of Arlington’s digital marketing efforts to millions of leisure travelers, meeting professionals and travel trade worldwide.
“The power and potential of this site for attracting and informing Arlington visitors is truly incredible,” said ACVS Director Emily Cassell. “The site’s mobile-first design, sleek look and feel, and emphasis on vivid photography and video showcase Arlington and its hospitality businesses in the most authentic, compelling way ever.”
The website was designed and developed by Tempest, an award-winning Philadelphia digital agency known for its extensive work with destinations, including Louisville, Jackson Hole, Sedona, Long Beach and Jacksonville. The firm, which was selected through an Arlington County competitive procurement process, completed the six-month project ahead of time, and on budget.
“Arlington is a unique destination, offering a very distinct visitor experience for business and leisure travelers in the greater Washington, D.C., area,” said Gregg Shapiro, President & Chief Creative Officer at Tempest. “It was important for us to capture the essence of that visitor experience through the new website, and to help inspire potential visitors to choose Arlington as their home base when visiting the region.”
Site is user-friendly for both travelers and staff
The new website has the latest features, including responsive design (which automatically adjusts the browsing experience to any web-enabled device); an enhanced regional events calendar integrating community events from Virginia.org and EventBrite; persistent mapping tied to local business listings; intuitive social media integration; HTML5 full-screen video and more.
The last StayArlington website was launched in 2011. Reinstitution in 2016 of the guest-paid surcharge that funds Arlington tourism promotion supported the development of the new website. The funding has also resulted in significantly expanded marketing activities and record-setting tourism revenues for Arlington and the Commonwealth. To ensure long-term cost effectiveness, the website procurement required a content management system (CMS) that could be easily maintained internally, plus a multi-year site hosting agreement.
