ASSAULT & BATTERY (significant), 2020-12170026, 900 block of S. Orme Street. At approximately 7:45 a.m. on December 17, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute between known individuals, during which the suspect threatened the victim with a knife. The victim advised the suspect was allegedly intoxicated and in an enraged state. While officers responded to the scene, the victim and other occupants were able to safely exit the residence. A warrant for the suspect was obtained from the Magistrate’s Office. Officers made multiple audible attempts to make contact with the suspect on scene and negotiators attempted to contact him by phone unsuccessfully. As officers prepared to terminate command at the scene to further de-escalate the incident, a family member arrived and was able to convince the suspect to exit the residence. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Adam Cerna, 28, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery.
DISPUTE (significant), 2020-12170139, 700 block of 15th Street S. At approximately 5:23 p.m. on December 17, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute between known individuals. While en route, dispatch advised that the suspect had threatened the victim. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect and he was peacefully detained without incident. Officers on scene worked in collaboration with the Department of Human Services, and it was determined that he would be deferred to social services.
BRANDISHING, 2020-12170052, Route 110 NB at Richmond Highway. At approximately 10:41 a.m. on December 17, police were dispatched to the report of a brandishing. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victims were in their vehicle when they became engaged in a dispute with another motorist, during which Suspect One, a passenger in the suspect vehicle, allegedly displayed a firearm. When the victim indicated they were contacting police, Suspect Two, the driver of the vehicle, changed directions and fled the area. Suspect One is described as a Black male, with a large build and tall in stature. Suspect Two is described as a Black male, with a smaller build, curly hair or possibly dreadlocks that extended below the shoulders. The suspect vehicle is described as a red sedan. The investigation is ongoing.
