ROBBERY, 2021-03020177, 4900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 6:45 p.m. on March 2, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect entered a business and began selecting merchandise. The suspect approached the front counter, at which point he became engaged in a verbal dispute over payment with the victim. While the victim contacted police, the suspect began selecting additional merchandise. A brief struggle ensued between the suspect, victim, and a second victim, as they attempted to stop the suspect from stealing merchandise. The suspect then fled the business in a vehicle in possession of stolen merchandise. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’7”-5’9”, approximately 25 years old, with a mustache, tattoo on his left cheek, wearing a black jacket with a hood, blue jeans, black shoes, and a white mask. The vehicle is described as a black Ford SUV with Virginia license plates. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 2021-03020057, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 9:30 a.m. on March 2, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 9:19 a.m., the suspect attempted to gain entry to a business. An employee observed the suspect reaching through a gate, taking merchandise, and placing it in a bag. The employee followed the suspect as he attempted to flee on foot and recovered the stolen items. The suspect then fled on the metro prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a Black male, 6’0”-6’2”, with a medium build, mid-30’s to early 40’s in age, wearing a black hat, white face mask, black jacket, dark pants, and white shoes. The investigation is ongoing.
