Comments are welcome on Arlington’s $277.5 million one-year Proposed Capital Improvement Plan during a County Board virtual public hearing on Tues., June 30.
Online registration for the public hearing is open now through 5 p.m. Mon., June 29. Pre-registration is required for the hearing.
“COVID-19 continues to affect all aspects of County government,” Arlington County Board Chair Libby Garvey said. “In response to the economic uncertainties caused by the pandemic, the County Manager has proposed a one-year CIP for Fiscal Year 2021 instead of the traditional 10-year plan. He has focused on projects already underway, or that keep failing infrastructure from failing, and on projects required by legal or regulatory obligations. In addition, body-worn cameras are included, as is the one area of real expansion in the CIP: stormwater management. Our manager is recommending delaying future projects while we continue to assess the economic damage the pandemic has done. These are extraordinary times and the Board very much wants to hear from the public what they think of these proposals before we adopt the CIP next month.”
The County’s 2021 Fiscal Year begins July 1, 2020.
