While most pups are loyal to their owners, they are not always predictable. Allowing a pet off-leash, even under supervision, greatly increases its chances of being hit by a car or contracting rabies from animals on the loose.
In the last year, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington received 260 reports of dogs running at large and more than 120 sightings of strays.
Being off-leash in Arlington is only allowed on private property and in designated dog parks.
One more must for the street and even inside any dog park: bag the poop, then trash it. You’ll be protecting everyone’s health and environment.
