- Manufacturer ceases operations
- No new iParks being sold
- Customers can continue to use existing iParks, but cannot reload
- Treasurer's Office working on replacement solution
ARLINGTON, Va. — ePark Systems, the manufacturer and distributer of the iPark™ in-vehicle parking device, has notified the Arlington County Treasurer's Office that it has ceased operations. More than 4,000 customers have purchased the iPark device as a pre-paid alternative to using coins to pay for metered parking.
“We are working to find a replacement device for the iPark as soon as possible,” said Arlington County Treasurer Frank O'Leary. “We believe that this will be accomplished within the next few months and will work to minimize disruption for our customers.”
Because the manufacturer has ceased operations, the Treasurer's Office can neither sell new iParks, nor reload existing devices. Existing customers can continue to use their iParks until the parking time on their devices is exhausted, but will not be able to purchase additional parking time for the device. The Treasurer's Office is in the process of contacting iPark customers to notify them of this situation, and will keep them informed when a replacement device is ready. The Treasurer's Office has sold iPark devices and managed the program since 2005.
